CIRCULATION POLICY CHANGES
(Effective 02-2004)

TO OUR PATRONS:

We have recently made some changes to our automated circulation system. This has given us greater flexibility and we are pleased to announce the following changes in circulation practices:

  • The total limit of 25 items per card has been removed, and patrons may have up to 99 items out on their card. However, due to the tremendous demand for videos, DVDs, and audio books, the limits by format still apply. (i.e., 4 VHS and/or DVDs per card, 10 compact discs, etc.).

  • Patrons of any age can obtain a free library card if they are Texas residents with proof of a current mailing address. If the patron is under fourteen, a parent or legal guardian must provide proof of mailing address. A parent or legal guardian for any minor child assumes financial responsibility for items checked out on these cards.

  • Patrons of any age may check out materials in all formats. Parents are encouraged to monitor materials checked out by their children. Library staff cannot, and will not, monitor the checkouts of children. Parents who wish to restrict their minor children from checking out specific formats (i.e., audio books, videos, compact discs, etc.), should speak to the Head of the Circulation Department or the Library Director.

  • Only the individual to whom it is issued may use a library card. Library cards are free to all Texas Residents, so all family members can have a library card if they wish. (There is a $2.00 charge for replacement of each lost card).

We hope that these changes are beneficial to you. Thank you for using our library services!
